What is a Chamber of Foreign Trade (AHK)?
A chamber of commerce for foreign trade advises, supports and represents German companies worldwide. We advise them on establishing and expanding their foreign business. There are Chambers of Commerce Abroad in 93 countries and more than 150 locations. As the German-Baltic Chamber of Commerce, we represent Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania.
What services does the AHK Baltic States offer in Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania?
We offer you a full range of services to help you enter the Baltic market. These include, for example, market consulting, fiscal services, personnel & accounting, marketing and event services. A detailed list and description of all services can be found under our 'Services'.
How can I become a member of the AHK Baltic States?
To become a member, you must complete the membership application form. We will be happy to advise you personally beforehand. Just get in touch with us.
Who can become a member of the AHK Baltic States?
Any company with an interest in doing business in the Baltic states and Germany can become a member, regardless of its registered office or sector affiliation. Our members also include business institutions, chambers and associations.
What does membership of the AHK Baltic States mean?
As a member, you benefit from our network of almost 500 member companies. You can present your company at numerous events and make direct contact with potential partners. You also get exclusive access to our member app, which you can use to network directly and exchange information on common topics and offers.
All of our services are available to them at a 20% discount. Our job is to increase your visibility and keep you constantly connected and informed. After all, membership of an AHK is a seal of quality not only in Germany, but also in the Baltic States.

What characterises Estonia as a business location?
Estonia impresses above all with its simple market entry procedures. In particular, the simple online company formation and electronic citizenship (e-residency) make it easier to invest and do business in the northernmost Baltic state.
Germany was Estonia's sixth most important trading partner in 2020, accounting for 6% of trade in goods.
What characterises Latvia as a business location?
Latvia is located in the centre of the Baltic States. It not only has three important Baltic Sea ports, but also a dense road network with good connections to neighbouring countries. Riga is also home to the largest airport in the Baltic States with the most flight connections.
Latvia's foreign trade is strongly focussed on the Baltic Sea region. Germany supplies the fourth most Latvian imports (7%) after Lithuania (16%), Estonia (12%) and Russia (8.5%).
What characterises Lithuania as a business location?
Lithuania is an important location for manufacturing companies such as furniture producers, mechanical engineering, the chemical and textile industries. Lithuania also has a strong focus on new economic sectors such as fintech, cybersecurity and life sciences.
With a 23.1% share of GDP, industry is far more important in Lithuania than in most European economies.
Lithuania is strongly integrated into the regional division of labour and is of great importance for the entire macro-region. Its geographical location and favourable price-performance ratio are particularly favourable for the economy.
Is it possible to do an internship or traineeship at the AHK Baltic States?
We offer students the opportunity to complete an international internship in a dynamic team and exciting environment. The internship lasts six months and takes place at one of our three locations in Tallinn, Riga and Vilnius. We are advertising the positions ‘Interdepartmental Internship’ and ‘Internship in Press and Public Relations’.
Trainee lawyers who would like to complete their administrative or elective internship at the AHK can apply for the Riga location.
The training covers issues relevant to the practice of the AHK, in particular questions on commercial and corporate law issues, licences, creditworthiness, labour law and posting of employees, permanent establishments and foundation, etc., whereby the topics are often to be dealt with in a comparative law context.
