What you need to know if you export packaged goods to Germany

Since January 2019, all companies that place shipping or product packaging on the German market must fulfil their recycling obligations. This applies to manufacturers in Germany as well as exporters from abroad. There are no exceptions for small businesses or online retailers who offer their goods via retail platforms. The decisive factor is that packaging is placed on the German market.
