Stock company Akmenės cementas is one of the largest companies in the Baltic region and the only company in Lithuania which manufactures cement and seeks for sustainable development. So environment protection is one of the most important spheres of regular development for Akmenės cementas. Company has set a task to change about 50 percent of main fuel into alternative fuel including burning of waste. In 2006 AB „Akmenės cementas“ implemented a modernization project – wet cement production process was modified to dry production process. Independent cement testing laboratory accredited by Lithuanian National Accreditation Bureau also is functioning in the company.
