The 45th Armoured Brigade “Lithuania” has been permanently stationed in Lithuania since 2025 and represents Germany’s strong security commitment in the Baltic region. As a modern mechanised unit of the Bundeswehr, it is part of the 10th Armoured Division and is equipped with advanced combat systems, including Leopard 2 main battle tanks, Puma infantry fighting vehicles, and PzH 2000 self-propelled howitzers.

With permanent locations in Rūdninkai and Rukla and in close cooperation with Lithuanian partners and NATO, the brigade actively contributes to regional security and defence readiness. It includes several experienced units, such as the 122nd Mechanised Infantry Battalion from Bavaria, the 203rd Tank Battalion from North Rhine-Westphalia, and the multinational battlegroup in Rukla, which has been present in Lithuania since 2017.

The 45th Armoured Brigade stands for reliability, operational readiness, and strong partnership. Its presence not only strengthens the defence of NATO’s eastern flank but also reinforces trust in a shared European approach to security.
