Thank you for an inspiring year with “Young Energy Europe”!
The year 2025 was a great success for the “Young Energy Europe” project! With training courses and awards ceremonies in Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania, we were able to implement numerous innovative projects for energy and resource efficiency. Our participants developed impressive ideas that not only reduce energy costs in their companies but also make a valuable contribution to climate protection.
Particularly noteworthy are the best projects, which were honored by a jury of experts during the festive closing events:
Achievements in Lithuania, Estonia and Latvia
Lithuania
In Lithuania, Elinta UAB was awarded the title of “Energy Scout of the Year.” The award-winning project focuses on integrating a battery energy storage system into the energy management system of a newly constructed Elinta building. By combining energy storage and intelligent energy management, the company can optimize its own consumption and reduce its grid consumption. The project enables annual CO₂ savings of 3.78 tons and represents an important step toward increasing energy efficiency and improving the use of renewable energies in business operations.
Estonia
In Estonia, the top three places went to projects by Metaprint AS and Lidl Eesti OÜ, which impressed with their high savings potential and practical feasibility.
Metaprint AS took first and second place in the competition.
The first place was awarded to a project aimed at reducing hazardous and municipal waste through new recycling methods, enabling an annual CO₂ savings of 223.4 tons.
The second place went to another project by the company, in which a conventional painting line was replaced with a UV-LED coating system. This allows for an annual CO₂ savings of 390.93 tons.
The third place went to Lidl Eesti OÜ, with a project for recovering energy from refrigeration systems, which aims to reduce dependence on central heating systems. By using waste heat from refrigeration, 52.64 tons of CO₂ could be saved annually.
Latvia
In Latvia, projects by Riga Bulk Terminal SIA, Rīgas satiksme RP SIA und Carnikavas komunālserviss PA were awarded.
Riga Bulk Terminal SIA impressed with a project to optimize the energy efficiency of conveyor systems in the container port, which in particular reduces the idle operation of a conveyor system. This will save 2,903 tons of CO₂ annually.
Rīgas satiksme RP SIA presented a project to electrify a public transport route, replacing diesel buses with trolleybuses. This project has an annual savings potential of 299.98 tons of CO₂ and makes a significant contribution to reducing emissions in urban transport.
Carnikavas komunālserviss PA developed a project to analyze the energy efficiency of a swimming pool cover at the municipal kindergarten “Strautiņš.” By reducing heat loss, 4.38 tons of CO₂ can be saved annually.
Each participant contributed to achieving our common goal: a more sustainable future. We would like to express our sincere thanks to all participants, companies, and experts!
Outlook for 2026
In 2026, we look forward to training and inspiring young Energy Scouts for the third time. Stay tuned - together, we will continue our journey to use energy and resources more efficiently, thereby not only acting more sustainably, but also reducing corporate costs in the long term.
